Here are 10 tracks i’ve been spinning recently. I usually make a huge Autumn/Winter playlist for this time of year which i maybe should have written about but i figured i’d point you in the direction of some great jams that aren’t associated with leaves and snow. Enjoy. - Murray Macleod

I am not sure what connects all these songs, but in the past couple year(s) I have enjoyed all these songs to the utmost. Looking at the list i think it is often the unique voices that have draw me to them. some really good line that someone plays or sings also attracts me to these songs, i think. I look for some meatiness in a tune and i think these songs are like delicious meatballs! - Travis Shettel

Rancid – As Wicked
‘…And Out Come The Wolves’ makes me want to drink as much as I can, puke my guts up and then smash something on my way out of the door. Favourite song from a time-defeating album.
The Bronx – White Guilt
Instant good vibes. Soundtrack to beers, smokes and days of nothing.
Lifetime – Haircuts and T-shirts *Song is currently not on Spotify
Travelling song. Banger. The whole self-titled record rules.
The Menzingers – Sunday Morning
After seeing them play this in Kingston, I took Greg aside and gushed to him how much I love this song and how I hope I can write a song about family life one day.
I Am The Avalanche – Holy Fuck
I listened to this album for the first time expecting something a bit dreary, but this – the opening song off it – blew my fucking head off.
Crazy Arm – Little Boats
Crazy Arm are one of those bands that put everything into perspective for me. Underrated? Maybe. But everyone I know loves them.
SHARKS – Sweet Harness
Another awesome English band. I once went to their hometown of Leamington Spa on a canal boat holiday. I wish I knew them at the time so they could have joined us on deck for a smoke-out.
Sam Russo – Letting Go *Song is currently not on Spotify
Sam and I were on tour together when he wrote this song. One night him, Jim Hull (from Leagues Apart) and myself went to stay round Russo’s girlfriend’s house in Holloway. We got there and nobody answered the door. All our phones’ batteries had drained and we didn’t have £2 between us. We were stranded, so we spent a night sitting on the steps of Big Red. Listening to this song always takes me back there.
Weezer – The World Has Turned And Left Me Here
Rivers Cuomo showed the world the best songs are written with four chords.
Dave Hause – C’mon Kid
The bouncy radness of this has a similar vibe to some Third Eye Blind songs. And – as everyone on earth knows - TEB fucking rule. I dig it. - Giles Bidder

Dopamines - Monroe
Who doesn’t want to kick things off with Keystone and car bombs??
Rival Schools - Wring It Out
One of the year’s best records, Gorilla Biscuits’ Walter Schreifels reincarnates the project after a decade long hiatus, and tops the debut!
New Creases - Come Around
One of my favorite bands we’ve had the privilege of playing with. New Creases has the spunk balanced with a handle on melody a lot of bands try to execute, but don’t come close to what these guys (and gal) do.
Forgetters - Too Small To Fail
Blake Schwarzenbach’s latest project, if you can imagine this, sort of combines Jawbreaker with Jets - bites when it’s angry, reflects when it’s introspective. Too Small To Fail is simply one of Blake’s best songs he’s written for any project.
Cheeseburger - Big Night
Finally an underground Brooklyn band that isn’t chillwave! To put it simply, Cheeseburger is Danzig fronting The Dictators. Big riffs for big nights, no crap.
Foo Fighters - White Limo
They brought back Pat Smear and put Butch Vig at the helm to make arguably the best Foo record yet. If you listen to music and don’t like this band, you’re simply not listening.
New Found Glory - Memories And Battle Scars
Another one of 2011’s best, Memories And Battle Scars has one of those undeniably memorable NFG choruses in the league of Hit Or Miss or Forget My Name. It’s been about six years since they’ve worked with Neal Avron, but whenever they do, it’s a classic pop punk record.
The Explosion - The Ideal
There are a few bands who’ve always stuck with me - severely underrated bands who never quite poked through the dense sea that is this industry. While you may remember them from one of the Tony Hawk games, The Explosion had a record in 2000 called Flash Flash Flash that is an unappreciated gem, and one of the last great records to come out of Boston.
Paramore - You Ain’t Woman Enough (To Take My Man)
I was just talking with our bassist Christian about how Hayley Williams should do an entire record of country standards, as she absolutely shines on this Loretta Lynn cover. We have a lot to thank Hayley for, as she really has elevated female-fronted bands and independent labels to a new level.
ALL - Self Righteous [Live]
Just listen till the end and you’ll see why it’s the best track to end your mix with!

Tim Kasher - The Jessica
This song is about being an asshole, and its a really good song about being an asshole. The first few seconds sound like “Kiss Me”, and that makes it better I think.
Bruce Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town
This record (and song) are awesome because its Bruce getting sensitive as hell while still singing about cars and factory jobs. Listen to that organ. He takes you to church.
Todd Rundgren - Hideaway
Todd is great. This song has awesome keyboard sounds and the best lyrics ever.
Slint - Nosferatu Man
Benny told me to get ahold of this album, and its really good. This song has weirdo time signature changes that feel blocky and forced at first, but then groove pretty hard.
Spoon - Take the Fifth
Every Spoon album is different, and there’s so many, so by the time you get back to listening to a record you haven’t in awhile, its like you never heard it to begin with. Right?
Tom Petty - Yer So Bad
Best chorus ever.
Grinderman - Heathen Child
Nick Cave is scary and awesome and weird.
Fugazi - Break
I wish I could play drums like this.
Leonard Cohen - Love Calls You By Your Name
On this record, he created an awesome texture of nylon string guitar played all arpeggiated, sparse instrumentation, and kids singing. Its a totally immersive and awesome record to listen to in headphones. The titular lyrics in this song hit hard.
The Menzingers - Whos Your Partner?
Such a well written song. I love mostly everything this band does.
Yello - Oh Yeah
Oh. Yeah. - Chris Tenerowicz

I took a trip up to Massachusetts this past weekend. Lots of driving, especially up north by rockport on the coast. I had these songs on repeat most of the time… really set the tone for a reflective New England weekend. Go on a trip somewhere and listen to these. - Tym
