Though it doesn’t hit with quite the same effect that “Dancing With A Ghost” did, “Spinning Out” still stands out from Valencia’s previously released material. It sounds big, it sounds like the 90’s, and that’s a formula that can hit perfectly.
“Spinning Out” begins lightly with a guitar part that allows Shane Henderson’s vocals to dominate from the start as he sings, “I wonder who picks up the pieces when we fall apart // Even empires burn to ashes // I don’t know where to start,” before the song jumps into a hard-hitting and short chorus.
Valencia’s new album is starting to sound a lot like Third Eye Blind’s self-titled album, and this is evident with the light, 90’s feel “Spinning Out” holds throughout with a minimal and repeating synth part as well as non-overpowering guitar parts.
