Today’s PropertyOfZack Playlist features three out of the four bands on Senses Fail’s brief fall tour. We’re huge fans of Senses Fail, Make Do And Mend, and The Story So far, and all three of the bands were kind enough to create a mix for us. Check out the Playlists and listen to the songs while reading everyone’s thoughts!

All 10 of these songs are songs that I can listen to no matter what mood I’m in. A few of them are off fairly recent releases and I think its awesome that even though they are brand new, they are already included in a list of my favorite songs. All these artists (active or not) have made an impact on whatever scene they are a part of merely by playing what comes naturally to them. Listen to honest music. - Kevin Geyer

St. Vincent - Chloe in the Afternoon
I just got St. Vincent’s new album “Strange Mercy” and I really can’t stop listening to it. This particular track perfectly exemplifies to me how Annie Clark can blend the most delicate of voices (hers) with big rock riffs (also hers). She is way more bad ass then me and it doesn’t make me mad.
Manchester Orchestra - Deer
Another album opener on what might end up being my album of the year for 2011. It’s always a ballsy choice to me when bands start records with really quiet and beautiful songs instead of bangers and in this instance it really worked. The lyrics to this track are also super sad and amazing
I Am The Avalanche - Holy Fuck
The last album opener on this list, I promise! This song is the exact opposite of the last one, a complete banger from start to finish. Also the lyrics are about a breakup that is almost exactly in line with one that I’m going through right now. The lyric “Thank God it wasn’t winter when all this me and you shit hit the fan,” kills me every time.
The National - Tall Saints
This is the current occupier of the “favorite song by favorite band” position for me. I’m obsessed with this band, and obsessed with this song. It’s a B-side from “Boxer” and appears on “The Virginia EP.” A National song with a truly amazing arrangement and incredible lyrics, who’s surprised?
Hellogoodbye - When We First Met
I first met (ha ha!) the dudes in hellogoodbye on our recent tour in Australia and subsequently fell in love with their music. This song is off of their newest record, “Would It Kill You?” and I believe was the lead single. So catchy and Forest’s voice is so soulful. Related: we saw a dude propose to his girlfriend on stage to this song in Perth, Australia. She said yes!
Jack’s Mannequin - My Racing Thoughts
I am a big fan of Andrew McMahons music. Starting from Something Corporate, and now Jacks. I think he’s an incredible songwriter and lyricist. I really connect with what he writes about. This is the first track off their new record “People and Things.” it’s got a bit more of a mature then their debut, but really great nonetheless.
Pedro The Lion - Options
We recently got home from Australia, and I was flying out to see my girlfriend the next day. I could not sleep because of the jetlag, so I seriously stayed up all night listening to Pedro The Lion. This is one of my favorite tracks from them off of their record Control. So sad, so perfect.
I Am The Avalanche - Dead Friends
Avalanche are my fucking jam. Seriously favorite current band. They are waving the flag for honest punk rock, and I couldn’t be more stoked to have em on our side. Their new record Avalanche United is a so great, and this is one of my favorite songs from it. Honest music honest music honest music.
The Velvet Teen - Chimera Obscurant
My good friend David from All Teeth showed us this band when he came on tour with us. I instantly fell in love. This track is incredible, off their amazing record “Elysium.” So dynamic, so beautiful, hits right home with this fella.
Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American
JEW. What can I say? They are my favorite band of all time. Bleed American is a brilliant record, and this is one of my favorite opening tracks ever. Best chorus! - Michael O’Toole

This list is in no order. So many great records just came out, in fact so many great records came out this year. In my opinion, It has been one of the best years for new music in recent memory. It has honestly really gotten be excited about music again, not that I ever fall out of the scene but there are times when there just isn’t great music coming out and I find myself listening to the same records I did in high school. This year and over the past couple months I’ve only been listening to only new records with the except of some NOFX and Propaganhi and it’s bee fucking great. Cheers to good music. - Buddy Nielsen
