“I don’t want to be an old man on the sea // Cursing the world // Not a soul at my wake” are the first words you’ll hear from Ben Jorgensen when you listen to “Changed My Mind,” and if it doesn’t make you think about the end of Armor For Sleep, it probably should.
The lyrics are certainly reminiscent of early Armor For Sleep as are the light guitar lead and rhythm guitar parts and are sure to be a favorite for anyone who’s missing the old band. Ben’s vocals prove to still be some of the best as far as emo has to offer as he sings, “Ready to let go // Ready to let go.”
One might call it a return to form for Ben Jorgensen. Though the first taste of his solo EP cannot be compared to What To Do When You Are Dead, it shouldn’t have to be. Thankfully with no influence from God Loves A Challenge, “Changed My Mind” shows a more vulnerable side to Ben in a more realistic way.
