Today’s PropertyOfZack Playlist features three out of the four bands on the Major/Minor Tour. We’ve been so thankful to the bands on this tour for providing us with phenomenal Playlists over the past month, and we’re truly sad that the tour is coming to an end within the next week or so. Thrice, La Dispute, and O’Brother made us great Playlists, so check them out and listen to the songs while reading everyone’s thoughts!

To preface this I would like to say that we are in Salt Lake City Utah and it is snowing here, and we just drove through the mountains of Colorado and there was snow there. So these things may have greatly influenced my song selection. I tried to arrange them in a somewhat flowing order, I hope you enjoy.
Nine Inch Nails - The Day the World Went Away
I’m sad to say I only got into NIN recently. It started with his film scores and then I heard some of his instrumental songs and essentially moved backwards through his catalog. This record (The Fragile) was also produced by one of my favorite producers Alan Moulder, and has some of the most dense arrangements you will ever hear. If you’re like me and never really got into NIN/Trent Reznor (and would like to) start with this album. It’s a 2xLP and while there are a few Industrial/Goth moments that I don’t particularly care for this album is really great.
The Antlers - Parentheses
Also, just recently started listening to this band, and their new album “Burst Apart” is excellent. If you’re looking for a good, chill, fall/winter weather record then I highly suggest it.
Sainthood Reps - Telemarketeer
Our good friends in Sainthood Reps just put out their debut full-length “Monoculture”. It’s very very good. Since I first listened I find myself coming back to this track the most, and listening to it over and over again.
Portishead - The Rip
So it seems like the colder it gets the more I want to listen to Portishead. Particularly the album “Third”. This, in my opinion is one of the stand out tracks on that record.
The Dear Hunter - Progress
We just had the opportunity to tour with this amazing band in support of their new (and monstrous) release “The Color Spectrum”. 9 EP’s (36 tracks) all based around a different color, and all with a different sound. Lately I find myself listening to the Indigo EP a lot, and this may be my favorite track out of the whole collection.
James Blake - The Wilhelm Scream
Just got his new Self-Titled record and I can already tell that this will be heavy in my rotation for the coming months. This guy has one of the smoothest voices. Combine his traditional songwriting with trippy production and you have something pretty unique. Give it a try. Also listen to his cover of the Feist song Limit to Your Love.
Blond Redhead - SW
If you don’t listen to this band, you should. The album “23” is my favorite, and this is one of my favorite songs off that album. Alan Moulder also produced this album (i believe), so you can expect it to sound great.
Snowden - No Words No More
We had a chance to play with this band a couple years ago and they were absolutely great. This EP “Slow Soft Syrup” is their most recent release, and it’s very good from start to finish. Give it a listen.
Bjork - Undo
This is from the album “Vespertine” which is my favorite of hers. There is an intimate quality to her voice that cannot be duplicated. The vocal production on this record is amazing, contrasting a very dry and intense vocal sound where you can hear every subtle nuance with very lush and layered choral type vocals.
Radiohead - Codex
Hands down my favorite track off the new Radiohead record “The King of Limbs”. I could listen to an entire albums worth of songs with just piano and Thom Yorke singing (if only that existed). This song is absolutely beautiful. Listen to it on repeat when it’s cold outside and you are keeping warm, hopefully indoors somewhere, hopefully with a friend or loved one. - Tanner Merritt

I am admittedly a bad driver, and anyone in a vehicle with me could be in danger. That leads to a lot of time spent on the tour laying down in a bench seat, staring at the ceiling and thinking about weird stuff instead of seated behind the wheel. Here is the soundtrack I’ve made for my absentmindedness. - Adam Vass

Colour Revolt - Blood In Your Mouth
I love this band so much. This was the first song I ever heard of theirs from a six song ep they made years ago. Colour Revolt has a way of mixing the most beautiful and most intense energy into their songs. They keep making great music too… I can’t wait to hear what they do next. - Ed Breckenridge
Bark Psychosis - Fingerspit
I love this band’s mixture of sparse ambient compositions, jazzy groove, and bursts of energy. I didn’t realize it but this record (recorded 92-93) self produced in a St. John’s Church in Stratford England. All the airy spacious reverb in the recordings are from the church’s natural acoustics. Finding this out added an even deeper listening experience for me. I love imagining the music bouncing and echoing around in these giant halls. - Ed Breckenridge
Tom Waits - Back In the Crowd
I’m sure Dustin is picking a song off this too, but I don’t care…Tom Waits is one of my favorite artists of all time and he just put out a new record. I love him for his wacky stuff but what really gets to me is his mellower stuff. I love love love it all. - Teppei Teranishi
Chet Baker - I Fall In Love Too Easily
Guess I’ve been in a mellow mood. This song is the definition of cool. - Teppei Teranishi
WIlco - I Might
It’s only been a week, what can I say? I’m still listening to this record. Love that Farfisa in there. - Teppei Teranishi
Tom Waits - Hell Broke Luce *Song is currently not on Spotify
Off his brand new record. The most pissed off Tom Waits song I’ve ever heard. Pretty intense. - Dustin Kensrue
The National - Afraid of Everyone
This whole record is genius. It’s like indie Leonard Cohen. - Dustin Kensrue
Patty Griffin - Cold As It Gets
Seems like it’s her “Masters of War.” Awesome. - Dustin Kensrue
Pearl Jam - Release
This track has been a favorite of mine for almost two decades, but seeing/hearing the live version last week on the PJ20 documentary and after the passing of my father in January (the song is about Eddie Vedder’s father), it’s been taken to another level. It absolutely broke me down. - Riley Breckenridge
Manchester Orchestra - Simple Math
Fitting, seeing as were playing with them in Salt Lake City today (11.1.11). This is one of my favorite tracks of the year. The ending is so beautifully cathartic. It never fails to give me the chills when I hear it on record, and I’m sure those chills will be magnified a hundred times when I watch them play it live tonight. - Riley Breckenridge
