I really struggled when it came down to picking a playlist for this feature. While I love the feature and I think the idea of mix-tapes gone digital is a great thing, i’m just more of an album person. Something about me just really enjoys things as a whole, with certain songs benefit from what comes both before and after them. However, I decided to pick the following ten tracks that all have a special place in my heart from the past few years. They all have something to do with my growth as an adult and living on my own dealing with those struggles.

Lights - Toes
I just got the new lights album and have been listening to it a bunch lately. This one’s definitely my favorite off it.
We Are The In Crowd - Kiss Me Again
We are the in crowd are close friends of my band and I. “kiss me again” is, in my opinion, the catchiest song on the album. They also did their new album with some awesome producer friends of mine, zack odom and Kenneth mount.
Coldplay - Paradise *Song is currently not on Spotify
I heard this song quite a bit last time I was in LA recording while I’d be driving around. The production on this song sounds really unique to me… I haven’t heard the rest of the album yet, but I definitely plan on buying it.. In fact I might do that now..
The Lawrence Arms - Fireflies
I’ve been listening to this band since I was 14, and the album this song is on (the greatest story ever told) is still one of my all-time favorites. It was one of the first albums that had lyrics that really stood out to me.
The Weeknd - Loft Music *Song is currently not on Spotify
The Weeknd has an awesome vibe with all of his songs, and the songs released so far have some of the coolest musical production I’ve heard in a while. Check this song out- super chill and catchy.
Drake - Marvin’s Room
I think the “phone conversation” on this song is what sold me on it. The whole song comes across as very honest, which is alwas cool
Hit The Lights - Earthquake
I actually just heard this song today- we have some really big hit the lights fans in our crew, so naturally I heard it as soon as it came out. I think it’s one of their best. Great chorus melody!
Go Crash Audio - From Here To California
The singer of this band, deryck, now plays guitar in my live band. Enough said.
Foster The People - I Would Do Anything For You
The post chorus piano thing is sick!!
Justice - Civilization
Justice always has amazing sounds. Cool electronic jam with an almost rock-ish vibe in this one. - Jordan Witzigreuter

I’d been wondering what happened to Go Crash Audio. I guess at least now I know what Deryck is up to.
