PropertyOfZack got the chance to do an interview with Brandon Bolmer, the new face of the recently reincarnated Chiodos. Brandon took the time to answer questions about the reception to the band’s new album, Illuminaudio, the differences between Chiodos and Yesterday’s Rising in regards to studio time, and touring. Read up and enjoy!
For the record, could you please state your name and role in Chiodos?
Brandon Allen Bolmer, chanter and shouter of Chiodos.
Illuminaudio has been released for your audiences’ ears. It hasn’t been too long, but how has the reaction been so far at this point?
The reaction is 100% awesome in my eyes. For a band that has changed singers, it seems like things are off to a great start.
How was it being in the studio with the guys compared to Yesterday’s Rising?
It seems as if things went a little smoother with Chiodos, maybe that’s just because we had a lot of time to prepare the songs and what not. But, that’s not to say that working with YR was an unprepared experience. Both bands were and are fun to work with.
What exactly does Illuminaudio mean?
Illuminaudio is a word we came up with, it just represents an illuminative soundscape…something that could help a troubled individual through a tough time, or spread light through sound.
Many fans started opening up their minds as soon as you guys took the stage together and especially as soon as some of the new material had been released. How does it feel now to already lose that “new kid” kind of title from your fans?
It feels great man, like we are already really solid and flowing as a band. It feels really natural…I don’t feel like the new guy anymore, and I’m just doing my thing. I give thanks to all of the kids that are spreading positive messages about Chiodos, it really helps in the end. So, thanks to all of you that support Chiodos 2.0
Chiodos will be hitting the road in October with Atreyu, blessthefall, Architects (UK), and Endless Hallway. How stoked are you to hit the road?
It’s gonna be fun, I’m friends with a few of the guys on the tour already, so there’s already talks of fun adventures and what not. I can’t wait to meet the new faces of fans that enjoy the band’s new material, as well as the new faces of the other guys on the tour.
What should we look forward to hearing on the tour? A solid mix of old and new?
Definitely a solid mix of old and new. It’s best to do that, I think. I’m sure we all want to play new stuff, but that’s how it goes…ya gotta blend in those old jams for the longtime fans of the band.
Is Europe a possibility any time soon?
I wish! I want to go so bad! Please tell our managers and booking agent! I can’t wait for the day when I hear we’re heading to Europe. I’ve had many friends tell me it’s a great place, full of diversity and fun things to do.
Could we see a music video released during the fall tour?
Yes :)
Is there anything else we should expect from the Chiodos camp in the upcoming future?
You should expect a lot, but for now I’m going to leave all of that a mystery. :) Thanks for taking time to write this interview; I appreciate your interest in the band. Allow me to make a toast…TO THE FUTURE WE GO!
