Bones
I wrote this song when I was 17. It was the first time I started really experimenting with playing acoustic, and the first time I ever wrote anything with tapping. The song is about that moment when you realize that you have been affected by someone to the point that you are constantly thinking about them. It’s very much about vulnerability, and not being able to say exactly what you want to say.

Bear
I wrote this song around the same time I wrote Bones, when I was 17. I wrote it in spring about wanting someone, but nothing was matching up right. It’s about the back-and-forth and the uncertainty between two people. I actually ended up playing it at my graduation in 2009. My mom made a video that is floating around somewhere in the world.

Coat
This song is about that point when people stop caring about the important things, and stop being supportive of each other. Trying to be happy even though things don’t feel right. The end of the song depicts that rapid descent from one sad thing happening, into being sad about everything bad that’s ever happened. Thinking you have a grip on things, but at the end of the day you don’t at all.

Streams
Coat and Streams were written together but I decided to separate them into two tracks. Streams is a continuation of the last two lines of Coat. Realizing you don’t have a grip on things, which then leads to revisiting expired lives in different places. Remembering streams I would visit in the mountains when I was little, and feeling whole and clean when I would swim in them. Realizing I have no idea where those streams even are, and accepting that I may never find them again.
