Vic from Pierce The Veil had some time to answer a few questions PropertyOfZack had for the band and we couldn’t be more thankful for his diligent responses! Vic and I discuss the band’s recent tours, their time in the studio with Mike Green, as well as a possible side-project between himself and Caleb of Attack Attack!. Read up and enjoy!

For the record, could you state your name and role in Pierce The Veil?
I’m Vic and I sing.

Not too long ago the band was a part of the Take Action Tour with Attack Attack! down in Australia. How was that?
I fell in love with Australia almost immediately. Australians are such a sweet and laid back bunch of people.  Touring with Attack Attack! was great because they are down to earth and fun to be around. We all got along great and I really enjoyed sharing the whole experience with such amazing people.

In the past month or so the band has been to Australia as well as Japan. Can you talk about how to two tours went and any fun experiences you guys had?
Well, Australia is a very different culture in comparison to America, but Japan is on a totally different level. Almost every little thing they do in Japan is different than the way we do things.  It was really eye-opening and such a huge learning experience for all of us. I think one of the highlights was staying in a traditional hotel in Nagoya, Japan. It was like a karate dojo, where we all slept on the floor with these mats and rice pillows. It was unlike anything I’ve ever seen before.

How would you compare fans in Japan to those in the US?
The first thing that they warned us about Japanese fans is that in between songs they get very quiet. It was super awkward for us at first but we quickly learned that it is a sign of respect for the bands. They are quiet because they want to hear what we have to say. They are also very timid and polite to the bands in person. In America the fans are much more aggressive and wild.

Selfish Machines was released back in June. Now that it has had a few months to sit in, how would you say the reaction has been?
The reactions have been very positive. We started to see the album grow with Warped Tour and recently the shows have gotten bigger and bigger. We really enjoy growing as a band and seeing our hard work pay off the more we tour. It’s the best feeling seeing kids singing the brand new songs.

How was it working with Mike Green in the studio?
Mike Green was a perfect producer for this album because he was able to take our weaknesses as a band and improve the places that we needed help.  Whenever I was having a problem with a song or needed advice, he was always there with at least a dozen ideas or suggestions to keep things moving.  He is such a smart and talented producer.

Will we be seeing another single announced any time soon? Is a music video a possibility if so?
Well, we just released our first single along with the video for “Caraphernelia” featuring Jeremy Mckinnon from A Day To Remember. We are already talking about the next single and we’ll probably shoot another video as soon as we get some time off of tour.

You guys are refusing to take a break and are heading out on a major fall/winter tour with Attack Attack!. Is it great to be able to tour with them time after time?
We love those guys and we couldn’t be more stoked to be out with them again.  Caleb and I are even talking about doing some side project acoustic stuff together.  The “This Is A Family” tour is going to be our best live show yet!

What should we expect in the set list this go around?
We are really trying to push our live show as far as we can for this tour.  A lot of the venues are bigger than our usual tours so it will give us a little more room to move around.  We are trying to put together a set that people will remember forever.  We guarantee that every time you see us play it will be bigger and better than the last time.

The tour ends up right before the holidays. After the New Year should we expect to see some new dates?
Yes we have multiple US tours lined up already!

Is there a chance we might hear some bonus material off of Selfish Machines if there is any to hear?
I know we saved some special stuff for our overseas releases so maybe some of that will come around to the US soon.  Other than that I am hoping to write some new stuff just for fun and release it online or something.

What else can we look forward to seeing in the not too distant future?
We’ll be touring like maniacs for the next year so please come out to the shows!  Also keep an eye out for any collaborations or extra tunes in the near future.  Love ya!  -Vic :)
