The only Weezer-esque song on Weezer’s 2008 Christmas release, Christmas with Weezer, is the one whose lyrics are sarcastic, slightly offensive and whose music incites mini head-banging sessions around the Christmas tree. “Christmas Celebration” stands out from the rest because it’s not “sugar and spice and everything nice.”

Most of the album – 6 out of 7 songs – consists of very traditional renditions of Christmas carols – “Hark The Herald Angels Sing,” “Come Ye Faithful,” “The First Noel,” and the like. One would think that “Silent Night” would be far from silent if Weezer were producing it but on the contrary: It’s even less dynamic than the original.

“Christmas Celebration” definitely makes the Present-Opening Playlist, but not the rest. Download the single, not the whole shebang, for some unique, grungy Christmas cheer.
