Plain White T’s were on top of world a few years back with their mainstream breakthrough single “Hey There Delilah,” but mainstream audiences are notoriously fickle, and it’s been a while since the T’s tipped the needle on the pop-culture-o-meter. It seems unlikely that anyone had much in the way of expectations for a Plain White T’s Christmas single, but this snot-nosed pop-punk rave-up, a cover of a 1955 Christmas novelty song, is a pleasant surprise from a band that has, as of late, mostly lost its edge. It’s hard to imagine goody-goody Tom Higgenson and Co. ending up on Santa’s naughty list, but it’s easy to smile as he runs off the litany of petty sins that have ostensibly cost him his yearly bounty. Sugary like a Christmas cookie, but totally calorie-free, so enjoy without shame. On Christmas, there are no guilty pleasures!
