Bamboozle’s relocation to Asbury Park, NJ for its 2012 festival is one that has excited and confused an equal number of fans. Founder John D has now revealed additional details behind how Bamboozle will be set up in Asbury Park this year, which includes giving fans the option to swim and surf in the ocean during the day, among other things. D’Esposito provided more details about how he plans to squeeze the massive Bamboozle into Asbury Park. There will indeed be a mainstage on the beach — the biggest, the promoter said, ever built for the ‘Boozle. Bamboozle will take over the strip of beach directly north of Convention Hall and Paramount Theatre, both of which will be used for the festival. As of now, swimming and surfing while listening to music will be allowed.

The B-Boy Arena and hip-hop stage will be located in the park just south of the Berkeley Hotel. The Break stage for contest winners will be on Ocean Avenue north of Convention Hall.

D’Esposito intends to recreate Skate N’ Surf — the original festival that engendered the Bamboozle — at Convention Hall. He’s got some ambitious plans for the Paramount Theatre, too. A troupe of favorite Bamboozle musicians will perform two live stagings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show: one at 11 p.m. and one at 1 a.m.

The festival will run from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Friday the 18th of May and 2 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. D’Esposito estimates that 105,000 listeners will attend Bamboozle 2012.

Will the shore city have difficulty accommodating all of those festivalgoers? D’Esposito isn’t worried. He believes that there’ll be ample parking available, and he pointed out that the walk from the train station to the beach is no longer than the walk from the Izod Center to MetLife Stadium. It’s a heck of a lot more scenic, too.

Bamboozle is also instituting an electronic wristband system that will allow organizers to keep track of the crowds and will obviate the need for cash.
