The Company We Keep will be putting out their debut release via Drexel University’s MAD Dragon Records and Motion City Soundtrack’s Boombox Generation label. Check out a blog from Motion City discussing the release below by clicking “Read More.”

We’d like to turn you onto the first band in the Making Moves singles series that we’re presenting with Drexel University’s Mad Dragon Records - The Company We Keep

The Company We Keep began as a collaboration between Brian Southall (our good friend, tour manager, and The Receiving End of Sirens guitar player) and our own Justin Pierre over a series of Southall compositions for which Justin wrote lyrics and melodies.

They wanted to find a voice of a newcomer to sing the songs, and through a round about way, Brian found Amy Brennan.  The two of them were introduced by mutual friends at a birthday party in Detroit, but it was only later that Brian learned that Amy was a singer through youtube videos of her singing cover songs.  Brian and Justin were sold.

Next, Brian asked his friend Branden Morgan, the drummer for Misery Signals, to join.  Branden said yes and the rest is only the beginning.

When Making Moves came together, Justin wanted to bring The Company We Keep into the series.  Justin asked band mate Josh Cain to co-produce the recordings and The Company We Keep were the first band to come to Philadelphia and Drexel’s Mad Dragon studios to record three songs that will appear on their Making Moves single debut later this spring.

While the band will feature Brian, Amy and Branden for live performances,  Justin plans on continuing to collaborate creatively with the band both musically and lyrically. However, youmight spot him on stage but only for a show or two.

Check back in tomorrow (Wednesday 2/1) and we’ll introduce you to the second band in theMaking Moves series.
