“Already Gone,” the first track released by Bayside off of Already Gone, took many by storm with a sudden surge of energy and musicianship that was missing from Bayside’s previous attempt. “Sick, Sick, Sick,” the first official single from the record, still packs a punch but doesn’t quite sit on the same shelf as “Already Gone.”

Starting off with an edgy riff and a strong beat from Chris Guglielmo, the song shows promise as Anthony Raneri chimes in with his thoughts on hell and his lack of faith in human beings. The song takes a turn for the worse simply because the excessive repetition of “Sick, sick, sick” makes abundantly clear where the song got its title. Though it certainly is catchy and will be an energizer during the band’s live show, it doesn’t quite meet the expectations many have the for the band at this point.

The song’s bright spot comes during the bridge when Raneri’s trademark vocals mix perfectly with his lyrics as he sings, “Maybe love is looking for someone to fill the holes // We grow up building lives with holes in all our walls // The walls could fall // But here you were with spare bricks to save the day // And we pray it’s not too late // Spare bricks could be dead weight.”

“Sick, Sick, Sick” is by no means a bad track as it shines during its verses and bridges, but the excessive choruses can be overbearing on repeat.
