Sparks The Rescue are out on the S.I.N. Tour with D.R.U.G.S. and Hit The Lights, and the band will be doing a Road Blog for PropertyOfZack to keep fans updated. Check out the first one and make sure to come back for more!

Hey everyone! Toby here from Sparks The Rescue. We are in the thick of the Strength In Numbers tour. It has been quite a journey thus far, and we are having the time of our lives! Usually when we go on tour, it’s with a specific genre of music, but this tour is much different. Craig Owens got a hold of us a few months ago and asked us if we would be interested in coming out on tour with D.R.U.G.S. and we jumped at  the offer.  Every band brings something different to the table, hence the name of the tour. Every night there are kids there to see a different band, and it has been a great opportunity for us to be put in front of a whole new audience.

The tour started in Chicago, which was quite a drive to make all the way from Maine. But night one was a total success. We had never played a big room at House Of Blues, so we were stoked! We met the openers of the tour, Chicago natives “The Action Blast” and immediately hit it off. We shared a green room that night and shared some cocktails. We were already friends with Hit The Lights who we had done tours with in the past, so it was cool to already have friends before we started. The Like Moths To Flames guys are super awesome, and me being a closet metal fan, really enjoy their music. 

The second night was in Ohio, and I made my way onto the DRUGS bus to introduce myself to everyone and thank them for having us out. Craig asked if I wanted to stay on the bus that night and of course, I took him up. The drive that night was through a snow and ice storm, and although I felt bad leaving the guys in the van, I couldn’t really pass up a ride on the bus. It was my first time sleeping in a bunk, and I must say, I hope one day my band gets to ride around the country in that kind of luxury. The DRUGS dudes are all so nice, and give me inspiration to be a better person and musician. We can’t thank them enough for bringing us out.

From there we headed back to the New England area and played sold out shows in Boston and NYC. Those two shows were my favorite on the tour so far, because it’s pretty close to home for us. The crowds were insane and we got a really great response from the kids. Nothing excited me more than heading to the southern states though. Winter is cool and everything, but there’s nothing like wearing a t shirt in North Carolina in January. Charlotte was a really fun show, except our singer Alex accidentally said South Carolina on stage and there were a couple kids that weren’t very excited about that. They later came up and apologized to Alex for heckling him, but I thought the whole thing was pretty funny. 

Florida was amazing, the venues were smaller, which I am a huge fan of. Not to mention how gorgeous the weather has been. On the day of Orlando, we got the chance to hit up Universal Studios with a couple friends that work there. We literally got VIP treatment and free tickets. In the course of 4 hours we did every ride in Universal and Islands of Adventure with no waiting in any lines. It was probably one of the coolest days I’ve had in a while and we felt very lucky.

We just embarked on a 24 hour drive up Florida, across Louisiana and into Texas where we are meeting back up with the SIN tour tonight after a day off. We are so excited to hit middle America and eventually the west coast! If you come out to a show, please come find us and say hello, we love meeting everyone and hanging out. See you on the road!
