This mixtape is only a glimpse into the music I love. Some of it inspires me as a musician; some of it just makes me feel good. Give it a listen and I bet you’ll find something you like.
 
Phantom Planet - Raise the Dead
This uplifting jam is a great way to launch this mix tape and get you hyped. This record was a totally underrated and still garners lots of plays on my Itunes.
Muse - New Born
If you haven’t gotten into this band, then you are living under a rock. They are one of the most inspiring rock bands of our generation and I dream of someday being able to tour with these guys. This track is one of their finest and man does it get me pumped before a show.
Rage Against The Machine - Bulls on Parade
Here is a little throw back to pay homage to a band that changed my life and whose music stands the test of time. This type of heavy deep pocket groove should get you feeling good.

Man this band just fucking rules. Enough said.
Slipknot - People=Shit
At first, I was a bit scared of this band, but man do I love them now. Their music is so beautifully brutal and their live show is unreal. 
The Beatles - Blackbird *Song is currently not on Spotify
Easily my favorite band ever, The Beatles changed my life. I know its cliché, but honestly their songs make me so happy. 
Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love
I remember being a kid in my car seat and my dad driving around jamming this track. This play list wouldn’t be complete without some Zeppelin. 
The Mars Volta - Goliath *Song is currently not on Spotify
I kind of lost interest in the Volta for a while because the albums post “deloused” started to get a little too spacey for me, but they returned with this record and it blew my mind. For all fans of sick technical groove drumming, you must pick this record up because Thomas Pridgen is a beast! 
Santogold vs. Switch and FreQ Nasty - Creator *Song is currently not on Spotify
It’s party time when this track comes on. Just feels so good. 
Letter Kills - Don’t Believe
When I was on the Warped Tour in 2003, this band seemed like they were going to blow up and become the next big thing. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way, but they did leave behind an amazing album full of tracks that could be described as sounding somewhat like Taking Back Sunday meets Guns and Roses. 
Maroon 5 - Wake up Call
Ahh my guilty pleasure. There comes a time where every young punk rock kid must grow up and admit an appreciation for a great pop band. 
Radiohead - Exit Music (For a film)
“OK computer” might be my favorite record of all time. There is no better record to listen to and keep you calm on a long flight. Give it a shot and you will know what I mean. 
Envy on the Coast - The Gift of Paralysis *Song is currently not on Spotify
This song always gets me feeling nostalgic and I feel like that is one of the best parts about music. It can bring you right back to a specific moment in your life and you are there for the duration of the track. This is yet another awesome band that fizzled out too quickly. 
The Stryder - King of Coronas
This band is another diamond in the rough from my youth. A band that might’ve heavily influenced so many of your favorite bands from our scene, but you wouldn’t know it unless you listened to “Masquerade in the Key of Crime.” 
Lil Wayne - 6 foot 7 foot
I used to be one who loathed Wayne, but being stuck touring in a van with a bass player who loves rap will do funny things to you. Call Weezy a guilty pleasure or whatever you want to call it, I love his music.
New Found Glory - Boy Crazy
NFG changed my life growing up. They influenced me in so many ways and I was never the same after attending my first show of theirs at the Wayne Fire House in New Jersey back in 1999. Wow I’m really showing my age on this one.
Nirvana - In Bloom
I mean come on its Nirvana.
Taking Back Sunday - You’re So Last Summer
Never was there a record for which I had so many drunk sing a longs to than this one. Me and my friends would strategically plan out who would sing what.“ Ok I’ll be John and you be Adam on this song.” I love this record from front to back. - Aaron Stern

This was a very very hard list to put together, but I feel like all these bands have somehow changed my life, and the songs have changed my life too, it’s a very diverse list. 
 
The Beatles - Help *Song is currently not on Spotify
When my dad introduced me to this band, there was no greater band, I thought they had the catchiest songs, and most their songs were under 3 minutes. Everyone sang in the band, they just went in and recorded it live, it was insane how great they were and how fast they recorded their records.
Green Day - Welcome To Paradise
I found this band when I was 10 years old, and I literally found a band I could relate to, They were the first band I discovered on my own with no guidance, I saw this record in a store, and thought the art work was so cool, my parents let me buy it, and that’s how really playing drums all started for me. It was like Billie Joe himself knew how I felt They were the only thing I feel like I could relate to at the time. 
Glassjaw - Mu Empire
I found this band on the 2002 warped tour (my first real tour I was on) I heard this song, and I was floored, it made me want to start using double bass. I had never heard such an amazing vocalist and never seen such confidence in players. I didn’t even know a guy could do that with his voice! 
The Slackers - Wasted Days
I heard this song, and I felt like this was about me when I was 18. 
Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American
When I heard this, I was floored on how powerful this song hit, sounded like the biggest song in the world to me. 
MXPX - Chick Magnet
I saw this music video, and I immediately wanted to be just like them, dress like them, play drums like them, play guitar like them, play bass like them. I think they’re the reason I wanted to play really fast drums, I also had a pop punk band in high school that covered at least 10 MXPX songs, but I played bass in that band and tried singing like Mike. They changed my life, I thought they were so cool. Who would have ever thought years later, I would have had an opportunity to jam with their guitarist Tom and become great friends with him. It was a dream come true.  
Descendants - Everything Sucks
The grit of Milo’s voice, and the monstrous drumming of Bill Stevenson; amazing song, fast, to the point, and just a great song if you’re in a shitty mood. 
Refused - Shape of Punk To Come
If you want to know where your hardcore music that you listen to today came from, along with the cool hair cuts and tight jeans; these dudes paved the way, whether they’d like to admit it or not. 1998, no one was doing this. They’re hands down one of my favorite bands of all time, this song, and the title of the record, were showing you what was about to happen to “Punk” scene (The Shape Of Punk To Come) 
Cave In - Anchor
This song is off their record “Antenna,” I thought  it sounded huge and it reminded me of a friend stabbing me in the back, the song just moved me. Cave In should have gotten a lot bigger,  these guys were a great hardcore screaming in your face kinda band, but they took a chance and tried to go the AltRock route. People think this and “Jupiter” were the worst records they put out, when I arguably think these might be their best records. Because they took a chance and went away from the hardcore scene for 2 records. Either way, you should all listen to Cave In, another band that was ahead of the game. 
Saves The Day - Rock Tonic Juice Magic
When I heard this song for the first time, I was thinking, how can such a pretty sounding band, have gory lyrics?! I thought it was so cool they were a pop punk band singing about a guy breaking up with a girl, but with a creepy twist. It’s pretty crazy if you read it. That band for me also changed the game, every record they’ve always strived to make it different than the last, but still keep it them. I don’t know if any of that made sense. - Ryan Seaman
