Man Overboard have said on multiple occasions that “Decemberism” will be their yearly Christmas song, but in a perfect world they would like to rerecord it with better production. Bad production? Who cares, it’s Christmas!

Starting off with a messy power chords, Nik and Zac trade off vocals, and their Christmas spirit shows just as if they were young once again and peering down over the staircase railing to see what gifts wait under their tree. Don’t read too much into it, but it seems Zac remembers what he got as he sings, “Who could forget // It was almost 2003 // We kissed under your Christmas tree // While your parents were asleep.”

As each pop-punk band should have a Christmas or some sort of holiday song, Man Overboard certainly released a good one a year or so ago. And if you were wondering, yes, it does sound just a bit like Real Talk’s “Decemberism.”
