PropertyOfZack Interview : : Now, Now Every Children

I’m proud to post the PropertyOfZack exclusive interview with Cacie of Now, Now Every Children. After their 2008 release, Cars, Now, Now Every Children has been extremely busy with tours all over the world, including a recent European tour with Paramore. In the interview Cacie answers questions about the tour with Paramore, the recording of their next album, and future touring plans. Enjoy the interview.
1. For the record, could you please state your name and role in the band?
Cacie. I play guitar and keyboard and sing.
2. 2009 must have been an incredible year for Now, Now Every Children. In the beginning of the year you started to play small shows to support Cars and by the end of it, Paramore took you out on a sold out stadium tour in Europe. Tell us a little about that.
The Paramore tour was crazy. It doesn’t even seem real. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I got to hang out with my best friends every day and meet new people and do what I love. It was on a way larger scale that what we’re used to, but it always feels really good to be on tour. The first handful of shows were really stressful because we obviously weren’t used to how huge shows and huge tours work. But you get into a routine and everything gets easier after that. Everyone was super nice and helped us out a lot so that always made us feel better about feeling like tiny babies.
3. Do you see Now, Now Every Children having the possibility to go out on tour with Paramore again?
It’s hard to say. It’s not up to us. But if we had to opportunity I’m sure we’d take it.
4. When Cars was released did you guys have any realistic dream of being where you are today?
We had no idea what to expect with any of our releases. I still have no idea what to expect with anything we work on haha. You can only hope that people know how hard you work and that they’ll like it.
5. Cars was released in late 2008, when will the band head into the studio to start recording a follow-up?
We are in a weird transitional period right now, so it’s hard to say. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a 2010 release. Hopefully not too much longer!
6. Should we expect a new sound on the next record or will it stay consistent with Cars?
Nothing too different. I’m not sure really. If we have changed it would be harder for us to tell because it would be so gradual that we wouldn’t notice. We’re not aiming for a particular sound. We’ll be working with different people, so I’m sure it’s bound to be at least a teeny bit different.
7. Would you say you guys are more prepared to make an album now than you were two years ago?
YES. We are so much more aware these days. We know more of what we want and are less shy about saying so. We will have a better idea of what to expect so we’ll feel more comfortable with the whole process.
8. Will Now, Now Every Children be announcing any new tours in the near future?
Doubtful. As I said earlier, we are trying to figure a lot of things out right now. We don’t have a van at the moment and can’t afford a new one. But we are working on it, so hopefully everything will come together soon.
9. Where are some of your favorite places to visit on tour?
Dublin was really fun. Chicago is usually fun for us. It doesn’t really matter where we play, it depends more on the specific show. All ages shows are always waayyyyyy more fun than age restricted shows.
10. Who have been some of your favorite bands to tour with in the past?
I loved the bands from the last tour. That is the only real tour we’ve been on so we don’t have anything else to compare it to really. But Paramore and Paper Route have such an amazing live show that it’s going to be hard to beat that tour.
11. Cars was recently released on vinyl, are there any plans to release past EPs on vinyl?
I have no idea! Probably not. At least not for a while.
12. Looking back on the past two years as a band is there anything you would have done differently as this point if given the chance?
You have no idea. So many things. We have learned so much, and I can’t believe it took us so long to figure everything out. But I’m grateful that we are at least to this point, so I can be happy for that.
13. Thank you so much for your time, is there anything else you would like to add?
No problem! Brad and I are about to go get ice cream so I’m too hungry to think of anything else.
