From Tim Landers:
Yo. road blog round three. it’s been a while. I’m currently sitting in Pittsburgh, PA waiting for our show to start. It’s the second to last day of tour, and we’re about 10ish hours from home. Everybody is anxious to get back to MA. Tired, broke, and ready to get some sleep. Tonight should be cool, though.
Gainesville, FL- We arrived in Gainesville, and our wonderful friend Susannah from Paper and Plastic records let us crash at her place. We hung out with her sweet dog, Louis, for a bit and got some sleep. We woke up, got some coffee and checked out P&P headquarters. That label rules- so many good bands. It was our first time back in Gainesville since the Fest, and it was definitely a nostalgic trip. We played at a venue called Common Grounds. I saw Algernon Cadwallader play there at the Fest, so I was stoked to be back. The show was really cool. The sound was great. We had some drinks and had a wonderful time. I couldn’t stop laughing at the shenanigans Lally, Nik, and I were causing at the merch table. We headed back to Susannah’s for some hangs after the show. We ate some pizza, and watched some rad Adam Sandler movies.
Charleston, SC. We woke up and had a very uneventful drive to SC. This was another off day show with the Ghost Inside and Man Overboard. We were playing a place called the Oasis. We played here once before with our buddies in Make Do and Mend- it was good to be back. Our set was really cool. I couldn’t believe how fucking hot it got in the venue. It was disgusting. We had a good time, got some jello shots from a very rude bartender, and headed to Colombia to stay with some new friends. I stayed up late drinking cheap whiskey, took my first shower in days, and got some sleep on a very small couch.
Raleigh, NC- We woke up at had a very uneventful drive to Raleigh (lol). It was our first time playing in this city and it was definitely cool. I had some extreme technical difficulties with my gear, so I was a little bummed on my personal performance. I went to the coffee shop across the street to catch up on some emails and work, and then went to the liquor store with Nik and split a bottle of wine (lol). It was fucking hilarious. We had a blast. I played a drunken version of “Outbound” with Joe B for some nice new friends after the show and probably made a fool of myself. After we loaded out PJ, Lally and I headed next door to partake in “penny draft night.” Needless to say, it got extremely out of hand and we had a blast. I wont got into detail, but it involved playing beer pong at the bar?, dancing with middle aged women, and ended up spraying Lally with a stolen fire extinguisher. It was all too funny. Joe B showed up and we caught a ride back to our hotel. This was one of my favorite nights. It was way too funny.
I now must take a break from recollection and play our set. Time out.
….okay i’m back…. a little more sweaty and a little less sober.
Norfolk, VA- This show ruled. I must say, Norva is the coolest venue we have ever played. I mean, the backstage had a hottub….and a basketball court? How can you top that? The only thing that didn’t rule about today was the fact that we looked up the wrong directions and I drove an hour in the wrong direction. That was kind of lame. BUT, the show went really well. There was tons of kids, we had a blast, everybody was happy. We filmed a Transit thursday cover with every member of the Ghost Inside naked in a hottub behind us. It was fucking hilarious. It doesn’t really get much better then that. We never wanted to leave. We stayed until the Norva told us we literally had to leave. So we left, grabbed some Ramen noodles, and stayed with our boy about a mile from the show. Watched Hottub Time Machine and got some sleep.
Washington DC- This was our first time ever playing in DC. It was definitely interesting. We played at the Rock & Roll Hotel. The venue was rad, and everyone who worked there was cool. The show went really well. I don’t have much to say about this night, other then the fact we all drank way too much. There was some drinking, some laughing, some more drinking… then some puking. It ruled, thought. We drove a couple hours and stayed with the best person ever, our good friend Wayne. Good night overall.
Allentown, PA- Cool show. The venue was interesting. Kind of reminded me of the Rainforest Cafe. The show was awesome. We had a bast playing. Our best buds in Balance and Composure made the trek out. I was so happy to see them. They are the best band on planet earth- I mean that. It was good to see a bunch of friends and hang out. We drove for a couple hours and got a shitty hotel. The heat didn’t work (well, i might have broke it), so we turned the shower on full blast and left the door open. It was kind of like we were sleeping in a sona. It was cool, though.
Pittsburgh, PA- That brings us to today. We drove all day to get to this interesting city. I’m currently sitting in the back room writing this. Our set went well, the crowd is awesome. The Ghost Inside is killing it right now. I’m sure the rest of the night will be a blast. This tour went by so fast. So many good people in all of the bands and I’m sad it’s pretty much over. We have one more show tomorrow in Providence, RI. I know it will be amazing and I’m stoked to get home and see my family and friends.
So, I guess this might be it. Hope you enjoyed it. Word.
