PropertyOfZack is stoked to be exclusively streaming a brand new song by Second To Last called “I Don’t Have A Business Plan.” The band is one of many great young pop-punk bands from California that we’ll be hearing much more from in the future. The track will be released off of their new record called The Waiting Game, which does not have a set release date yet, but is expected out this summer. Stream “I Don’t Have A Business Plan,” read up on the lyrics, and check out the meaning behind the track below by clicking “Read More!”

Lyrics:
This time I’ll warn you before coming your way
For your own good, I’ve got some hurtful words to say
Though hurtful theyre useful and only meant to help you grow
Some things are better said than going your whole life unknown

Finally found a way to say what’s on my mind
Grow up, Grow old, run out of time
The passion in your heart turned out the lights
Making it worthless
At the drop of a dime, you do it every time
You do it every time

You’re sleeping but walking
Down all these dead end streets
Mind is numb and empty
Yet you’re still talking down to me
I’d help you find your way
But you chose a road that’s paved
It’s smooth and shiny but life doesnt turn out that way

Finally found a way to say whats on my mind
Grow up, Grow old, run out of time
The passion in your heart turned out the lights
Making it worthless
At the drop of a dime
You do it every time
You do it every time

So smile and mean it for once in your life
Not just that crooked mask you always hide behind
No substance, no, nothing
All hands in for the money
You owe me something more than all these empty lines

Description:
Growing up and living in America is a freedom in itself and I dont think any one can deny that. Im not really a patriotic individual and Im aware that there are alot of fucked up things going on in this country just as there are in areas of the world that most of us see as dark. But one thing that we constantly seem to be misguided by is the grip that money seems to have on our day to day lives. All of us face that moment where we feel obligated to take up occupations and take steps to see that we are happy in the material world. We are raised to believe that the American dream is a college degree, a high paying job that secures us a two story house with a two car garage and a white picket fence in a gated communtiy with the perfect wife and perfect kids. But it’s recently become clear to me that this isnt a dream that will ever offer me true peace and happiness inside. I grew up loved by both of my parents and was spoiled compared to most my age in third world countries and even in my own neighborhood. I went to the best private schools in town all the way up until highschool. The life i was taught to want was that of which i was raised. In March of last year my family nearly lost everything. My father has worked for everything for himself and for my family ever since he was my age until his hands cracked and bled. He was taught that the life he was striving for was in fact the “good life”. He works a job i know he hates for a life that isnt promising much along the lines of true happiness and passion and the pain of that is visible every day. The cold reality is that people are living like this every day and generations after generations are being raised in a culture that guides us towards believing that tangible things are what brings us happiness. This is a song for those who want something out of life that brings happiness inside and for the long term. This is a song for the misguided.
