PropertyOfZack was able to catch up with Anarbor at the end of the On Your Side Tour, and we’re glad we did! Slade, Mike, Greg, and I discussed the band’s run on the tour, their first mixtape, and plans to release a new album in the fall, as well as plans to release a new mixtape in the summer! Read up and enjoy, it’s a good one.

For the record, could you state your name and role in Anarbor?
Slade: My name is Slade, and I sing and play bass.
Mike: My name is Mike, and I play guitar.
Greg: My name’s Greg, and I play the drums.

Tonight is the second to last date on the On Your Side Tour, which is featuring A Rocket To The Moon, Valencia, Runner Runner, and Go Radio. How has the month long tour been?
Slade: They’ve been great.
Greg: It’s the best tour that we’ve been on.
Mike: All the bands get along great, and the shows have been super packed. The audiences also have tons of energy.

What has your set been like? Have the crowds been receptive?
Slade: Really high energy, man. The kids have been great. Lots of jumping, lots of clapping. Lots of crowd surfing too. It’s been fucking insane seeing the kids doing that.
Mike: We had like five ambulances called.
Slade: That was kind of cool.

You guys are still touring in support of The Words You Don’t Swallow, which was released just over a year ago now. Are you have with its total reception?
Greg: Oh yeah, we couldn’t be more happy.
Slade: It’s been getting better and better as the tours go on.
Mike: We’re getting really excited to do a new one now.
Slade: We’re writing our new record as we speak.

The record has really helped you explode over the past year in regards to Warped Tour and your fall tour with VersaEmerge. Would you say that its beaten the expectations you had going into the release?
Slade: Totally, and sometimes more than our expectations like on Warped Tour.

Anarbor more recently released The Mixtape. How did that idea come together?
Slade: It was a fun little idea we had. We just wanted to showcase some of our different talent and we thought it would be a cool idea to take some songs that normally wouldn’t be rock n’ roll songs and add our own vibe to them and change it up and put something out that was free for the listeners and something kids don’t hear on a normal basis. It’s not like a normal Anarbor record; it showcases a whole different side of the band.

Is it something that you’d consider doing again? Have fans been into it?
Greg: Yeah.
Slade: Absolutely, we’re working on the second one.
POZ: And would you guys like to feature some more artists on that one?
Slade: Yeah, we plan on having more guest vocalists.

It was just announced that the band would be heading out on a brief tour with Forever The Sickest Kids in the Midwest and west coast. How stoked are you guys for those dates?
Mike: It’s going to be good. It’s a free show and we’re like tapping into the whole like skate scene now, which is awesome. I’m excited for it.
Slade: I totally agree. And I went to the Zumiez Couch Tour like five years ago when Sum 41 headlined and Lydia played, and it was fucking great. It’s totally a Warped Tour vibe with skate demos going on. Lots of kids, and it should be fun.
Greg: It will be hot.

Will your set be the same on that tour?
Slade: Oh yeah.

There were also rumors going around that the band would be going out on their first headliner this summer with You, Me & Everyone We Know on support. In light of their recent break up, is the tour still on?
Slade: They are not a band anymore [Laughs]. We were definitely talking to them, we love You, Me & Everyone We Know. They were a great band.
Greg: They were good friends of ours.
Slade: We would have loved to bring them out on the headliner, but yeah, the headliner is still up in the air and we’re still working out the details. Nothing is for sure, but we’re definitely ready to get out there and play our own headliner and play our songs to our kids.
POZ: When in the summer would that be?
Slade: End of summer probably.

You mentioned you’re writing for your new album, how far along are you?
Mike: We’re just making demos right now. We’re always writing so there’s always new stuff.
Slade: We just recorded some demos while we were at home by ourselves, and we’re getting ready to sit down and actually narrow out and pick a producer that we want to work with and see who we want to actually record our record.

When would you like to hit the studio?
Slade: Earlier than the fall. An ideal date would be to release the record in the fall and to record it before that.

And you’re working on that second mixtape as well?
Slade: Yeah, that should come out much sooner than that. We’re shooting for the summer with that.

Should we be on the lookout for any other scattered tour dates in the works?
Greg: Besides the headliner, not really. That’ll be our next thing after the Couch Tour.

Thanks so much, for your time, is there anything else you’d like to add or that we should be on the lookout for?
Greg: You can check out The Mixtape.
Slade: It’s a free download. Go check it out.
