Bamboozle was hectic beyond belief, but Tay Jardine of We Are The In Crowd had a few minutes to catch up with PropertyOfZack for a brief interview. Tay and I discussed the band’s recent touring, the writing process of their new album, and her feelings about their tour with Taking Back Sunday. Read up and enjoy!

The band has certainly been busy for the last few months with dates on the Glamour Kills Tour and the Forever The Sickest Kids tour. Can you discuss how each went?
Back to back tours are really like hectic, but the went really well and it was good. Those were the two tours right after the holidays, and Hey Monday was before that and our EP is just growing. We see that in every tour and it was good to see that. Just that and all the people on the tours were awesome.

Does it help to begin touring with the same bands for a second or third time like The Ready Set on the GK tour?
Yeah, it was weird going on the Forever The Sickest Kids tour because we were touring with The Ready Set for like five months, and then it was like, where’s our family? We saw them here today and it was awesome.

Were fans good to you guys on all the tours?
Absolutely, it’s been awesome.

The band opened up the main stage today. How was that?
Nerve-wracking because we played five minutes after doors. It was awesome. We were trying to tweet as much as possible to get people to run over there, and it ended up filling out. It was awesome. I cut my foot open though; that was not awesome.

All of these dates are still in support of Guaranteed To Disagree. Would you say that nearly a year later you’re happy with the massive fans it’s gotten you?
I would say it has beat expectations. I didn’t think a seven song EP would bring us to where we are. I thought we would have to do a full-length and really push that to get on any kind of tour. It’s been awesome that people are like welcoming us. It’s great.

Are you guys hitting the studio after this?
Yeah, immediately like two days from now we’re driving down to Georgia. Then we’re going to start recording.

Is the writing process all finished up?
No, of course not. I don’t think it’s ever finished; until you get there everything is going to chance. We have a lot of ideas and a few finished songs, so it should be good. We’re still excited and confident about it.
POZ: When would you like to finish up in the studio?
Tay: Well we’re going to the studio for like two weeks, then we’re heading over to the UK with Mayday Parade. Then we’re going back into the studio. So we should be done by the beginning of June or the beginning of May.
POZ: How many tracks are you looking to have?
Tay: Eleven, I think.

Are you excited to hit the studio with Zack and Kenneth again?
Absolutely. I wouldn’t want to record with anybody else. Those guys are funny.

How would you compare and contrast the material to Guaranteed To Disagree?
It’s the same in terms of it being still us and we don’t want to draw away from that at all. We’re trying to use a little bit less programming as far as like all the crazy sounds and stuff. We’re working on doing a little bit more as far as vocally with the girl and guy thing. Trying to not make that a gimmick because it’s working and people respond to that and like that. We’re not going to get rid of that, but we want to have a few songs where Jordan and I are on the same page with a topic or something.

When are you planning to have the release out?
Fall is what we’re planning on.

Following your UK tour with Mayday Parade and A Rocket To The Moon, you’ll be heading out on your biggest tour yet with Taking Back Sunday. How stoked are you?
I’m so stoked. I actually just met them because they’re parked next to us behind the stage. We met up with them today and it was kind of weird because everybody is doing things and we’re all crazy, but we met with their management too and it was awesome. I feel like it’s going to be a really good tour. They seem stoked to have us and we’re beyond excited to be a part of it.
POZ: Can you just discuss how that came together?
Tay: The tour? They were looking for a band that was new and up and coming and they had a few people on the list and they picked up. So, I’m really stoked.

There has been a lot of criticism from fans regarding your placement on the tour Does that mean you just have that much more to fight for?
I don’t even know if it’s about that. I think the entire tour is a little mixed up. I think that’s actually a good thing. Like if you go to Bamboozle or any of these tours, I think if people just appreciate the music. We’re going to go out there with the mindset of even if they don’t like our music we’re going to have them say that we’re good at what we do and that they appreciate what we’re doing even though they might not be a fan of what we do.

Are there any nerves going into it now seeing how the reaction has been?
I’m extremely nervous. This is a band that we’ve been listening to for so long. I’m just hoping I don’t fall or do something stupid on stage. I’m so excited; I never thought that would happen.

How long of a run is that going to be?
I think it’s like a month and a half. We’re out pretty much till Christmas, but none of those things are announced yet.
