Below you can check out the PropertyOfZack interview with Andrew Seward of Against Me!. Andrew was kind enough to answer a few short questions while over in the UK for the Slam Dunk Festival. The band releases their new album, White Crosses, this month, so support it! Enjoy.

For the record, could you state your name and role in Against Me!?
Andrew Seward / Bass

Against Me! went on tour with Billy Talent back in March. How did the shows go? Was it good getting out on the road after the completion of the mixing and mastering of the record?
Canadian shows were great! Seriously, one of the best and friendliest tours I’ve ever been on. Maybe Canadians are just way nicer than everyone else. It’s always good to get on the road and tour. It’s what we do.

You guys are currently over in the UK for a few shows and the Slam Dunk Festival, how excited are you for them? The Slam Dunk Festival is just one big punk-fest.
Very excited. Just got into the UK this morning and went straight to the BBC to do a Radio 1 session. Running on 3 hours of sleep. Slam Dunk should be a……….wait for it…….SLAM DUNK! Yeah, like i said……3 hours of sleep.

After you fly back across the pond you begin your summer tour with Silversun Pickups, which came as a surprise to some people. Are you stoked to play to some different crowds and fans?
Completely stoked. We have played some fests with Silversun Pickups before and gotten to hang out with them. Great people and a great band. Maybe I’m crazy, but I don’t think the crowds are going to be that different. Are there fans green aliens who have gills like Kevin Costner in Waterworld?

White Crosses is officially being released on June 7th/8th. To those who have yet to hear it, what can we expect as differences from New Wave?
I would say it is a more eclectic record. New Wave was pretty straight up. White Crosses hops around a bit. I think that’s a good thing.

Following the three-month early leak, you responded amicably and released the lyrics to all the songs. Was that a sign of showing acceptance to the way the music industry is moving in these days?People already had the record, so it’s nice for them to actually be able to read the lyrics. I don’t really know if it was ‘a sign of showing acceptance to the way the music industry is moving in these days’. Leaks happen. (insert piss joke here)
We’re all stoked that people want to hear the record, so it’s nothing to get angry about.

Most albums leak, but a three-month early leak can severely affect albums sales. Did this worry you at all? Or are you just glad that most everybody seems to like it?
Nah, no worries. Of course I’m glad that people like it. Hell, I love it.

This is Against Me!’s first album with George Rebelo, originally of Hot Water Music, on drums. What was it like having him during the writing and recording process?
George has always been one of my favorite drummers, so it’s awesome that he’s playing with us. It was a very easy process playing with George. He loves to play drums, and it shows.

How was it working with Butch Vig again as a producer?
Amazing as always. Butch Vig is an outstanding person and friend.

After the Silversun Pickups tour Against Me! is flying back over to Europe to take part in the late-summer festivals. And you guys just announced that you’ll be playing Reading/Leeds, excited to be apart of that bigger-than-life lineup?
Very. We’ve played Reading/Leeds before, and it was a blast. Ready to come over and do it again.

Nothing has been set in stone yet for after the summer. Can we expect more US touring?
Tour, tour, and more tour. Everywhere we can go……we’re going!

Thanks so much for your time, is there anything else you’d like to add?
Sag Paneer + Garlic Naan + lack of sleep =  Goodnight
