It seems that it’s over almost as soon as it started. Born Without Bones’s short tour is now over and Scott has sent in his last update from the road. Check it out below and enjoy it!

From Scott Ayotte:

We got to Alex’s hour around 10pm and immediately began playing Grand Theft Auto 4 and eating hot pockets. Once we got bored of killing innocent people with helicopters and cop cars we watched Black Sheep. This was the first time I’d ever seen it and one of the only Chris Farley movies I’ve ever seen. I’ve been told on multiple occasions I look like him and unfortunately after watching that movie, I’d have to say the resemblance is dead on.
The next day found us skating around Richmond with our friends Alex, Jon and Kris. I was skating an old hook-ups deck that fresh had found at his house. The trucks were junk and on several occasions I almost ate shit. Fresh snapped his deck and that pretty much ended skating for us for the day.
The show in Richmond was pretty ill. It was at this house called the Tight House which is this sweet basement in downtown Richmond. We played with American Ruins, Wrist Rocket and POA, all of which were very fun sets to watch. Our friend Matt who is Wrist Rocket set up the show for us. Matt has definitely been one of the most supportive people I’ve met through playing music.
We got back to Alex’s and various shenanigans ensued. Alex stage dove off a window sill, hardwalked across his apartment and at one point there was a room in the apartment that was dedicated to listening to only municipal waste. The night ended somewhere around “Born To Party”.
Altoona, PA was our next show. We played this new venue called The Archway Center with A Loss For Words, Such Gold and Lions Lions. It was nice to play with some bands from home and to see some friends we haven’t seen in awhile. This show was actually the first time I’d ever seen Such Gold. They were so ridiculously tight and I was really into it. I hope we play with them some more in the near future.
We stayed with Kory at Pin Up again after the show. We got there around 2am and Kory was recording one his new songs. I played guitar and sang on the track. Once it’s mastered and mixed and such I’ll be posting it on Tumblr. The song is called “Breaking My Bones”. I can’t wait for that dude to put out an EP, his songs are short and sweet.
We woke up and headed towards Hatfield, PA to Cold Cuts Merch to pick up our new shirts. The new shirts look pretty sweet, John did a great job and going through them was so easy.
We played Deer Park, NY the next day with Iron Chic, Handguns, Shotgun Bang and True Things. It was great to see the Handguns dudes again. Shotgun Bang was super tight just like they were in Jersey. True Things was fucking sweet, reminds me of old Saves The Day. Iron Chic was so cool, as expected.
We stopped by NYC to visit my friends Emilio, Keenan, Mo and Madison. They all attend either Columbia or NYU. We listened to Kanye, got delicious subs and drank beers. We left their dorm around 4am and headed back towards MA.
I drove until about 5am and then pulled into a McDonalds to rest. 5 minutes later Fresh said, “fuck this” and got in the drivers seat. I fell asleep almost immediately. When I woke up we were in Milford. We got to my dad’s house, threw on Good Burger and passed out.
We still had one more show to play. Jim came over shortly after Fresh and I woke up and we ran through the songs quickly. This would be Jim’s first show with the band. We drove to Cambridge and unloaded our gear into the (Chinese) Democracy Center. I got pizza real quick with my friend Nick and his lady friend Sarah. While we ate our pizza, I burned CD’s for the show and complained to Nick about my headaches. We played with Transit, Shotgun Bang, True Things, Dear You and our good good friends Borderland. The show was definitely the perfect coming home show, even though we’d only been gone for a week. I didn’t learn how to ollie but I had fun and played with bands I really liked. That’s really all I could ask for.

You’ll be hearing from us again when we head out with The Tired And True in January!

From Scott Ayotte:

We woke up Sunday morning and went to Target and bought some shit with these gift cards my mom got from black friday shopping. We got some snacks and some towels so we could shower at Pin Up. We left Lancaster to play in York, PA at my friend MC’s garage called Skid Row Garage.  This is where we met Boots.
Boots is this dude from York who sings and plays acoustic guitar. In between each song he would get his massive bottle of jack and a two liter of coke zero and make a mixed drink in his mouth. Boots easily killed the half bottle of Jack to himself. Even after drinking that much, Boots was the same dude all night, completely hilarious. Some quotes of the night from him.

“She’s so trashy, I can literally smell the trash”
“She lost a little weight but she literally used to look like a thumb”

After the show we went back to Pin Up and watched the Joaquin Pheonix doc “I’m Still Here” and passed out.

On Monday, Fresh, Kory and I drove around Lancaster and got some food. We had some free time so I convinced Kory to let me record two acoustic songs I’ve had kicking around. The songs are called “I Will Step Into The Fire” and “Hide” (you can download them both here, http://www.mediafire.com/?n2y331kvmm9j4s4).
After recording wrapped up we drove to Williamstown, NJ to play the 1619 House with Atomic Square and Shotgun Bang. After the show we hung out with the dudes in both bands. Fresh and I fell asleep to some animal planet after eating checkers.
We woke up for our day off around noon and started driving towards DC. Once we got there we realized that neither of us care about American history, just Kanye West lyrics. We walked around and visited the Daniel Day Lewis Memorial and the Washington Memorial. We went to Chipotle and got sick, checked out skate spots when we had left our skateboards in the Kia and saw some crazy White House shit. We’re on our way to Richmond, VA now to our friend Alex’s house. Hopefully tomorrow I learn how to ollie.

Thanks again Zack!

Born Without Bones, fronted by Scott Ayotte, but also featuring Jim Creighton (ex-Therefore I Am) and Kevin Fitzgerald, are the newest band to be featured in the PropertyOfZack Road Blog. Scott will be keeping us updated on the band’s short tour in support of their debut album, Say Hello, so enjoy!

From Scott Ayotte:

This road trip began this past Friday in Allston, MA at our friends Broncy, Joe, Swain, Nick and Zachs house. K.Fresh and I played a house show. The house is nicknamed “The Treehouse.” The aroma of the house explains the nickname. We played with some good friends of ours in The Hotel Year, All Set, Elephant Telephone and Adventure+. I ended up playing three sets that night, guitar for The Hotel Year, drums for Adventure+ and then the Born Without Bones set. When I walked back to the car to put my shit away I almost puked because the basement was super hot and crowded with friends… I felt super sick.
There was a party afterward at the house which was pretty cool. All of the bands stuck around which was nice, because I remember when I was younger I never really hung out with all the bands I was “friends” with. I left Fresh at the party and went to see our bass player Jim before tour. He isn’t coming along this time, but will in the future. I watched Along Came Polly while Jim mumbled in a drunken stupor. I finally got to my house in Milford, MA and watched Good Burger for the 30th night in a row. I woke up at some point that night and found Fresh asleep on my floor with an empty Flying Dog next to him.
We woke up around 11am to pack up all of our gear into Fresh’s Kia Sorento, which we thought was going to be pretty tricky. We somehow fit my Bad Cat and his SJC into the small vehicle. We were pretty surprised and kind of pumped. My dad made us a Thanksgiving dinner before we left, which is when I realized that 90% of my meals have rice pilaf and mashed potatoes.
We got in the Kia and threw on the new Kanye West record. So many lyrics on that record crack us up, but we think it’s sweet. The first song on the record goes “Can we get much higher? SO HIGHHHH.” We haven’t stopped singing that since. After we gave that a listen, we put on one of our favorite records, Reconstruction Site by The Weakerthans. We’ve been covering A Plea From A Cat Named Virtue on this tour and it’s been a total highlight every night.
We arrived at Le Garage in Nanuet, NY, which is this dude Travis’ garage. Everyone was super nice when we got there and our set went well. Fresh was freaking out because he thought all the tension rods on his drums were stripped, but little did he know his drum key was destroyed and that’s the reason none of them were tightening when he was trying to the tune them. We stuck around and watched the other bands. I heard one of the bands cover the only Latterman song I know, that fear and loathing song. After the show we were asking around to see if anyone wanted to get us some brews.
We went to Wendy’s and got various forms of chicken. We drove to Pin Up Recording in Lancaster, PA and Kory Gable was nice enough to let us sleep at his studio. This band Between Me And You is recording here right now. Super nice people in this band and their songs are really catchy. Fresh and I brought all of our stuff in the live room. Fresh listened to me pansy fairy talk to this girl I’m kind of seeing on the phone for literally hours. Fresh just sat in the corner of the room, listening to metal, headbanging and talking to our buddy Conza on the phone. When we woke up this morning I told Fresh I wouldn’t be talking on the phone every night for hours. We’re traveling and we should be taking advantage of our time on the road and having fun, not talking with babes on the phone.
Today we’re gonna get some food and probably go skating somewhere. My goal for this trip is to learn how to ollie on a skateboard. We’ll see how it goes.
