From Tym:

Cincinnati was our first show with Mixtapes, in the basement of a health food store / coffee shop. Show was cool and then we stayed with some new buds and got free pizza. The real story here is how Pat discovered Kentucky bourbon barrel ale at the bar next door. For some reason people were playing giant jenga that was like four feet tall.. it got wild. And then everyone was wearing plastic top hats. We all tried the beer and spent the next morning finding a liquor store that had enough so we could all get some. Also this was the only day of tour that “free touring band chipotle” worked.

With all of the free space in the van now filled with various alcohol-related purchases, we headed on to the last show of tour @ it’s a kling thing. This might have been the most fun show of tour..way too many people packed into a basement, great bands on the show, watching the Oscars and trying to have fun before a nine hour night drive home to get back the next morning. It was a fitting end to a great first tour. The drive home was miserable but I suppose it was worth it to just get home after being out for a while. I just remembered I won money on a scratch-off ticket on that drive but it was too late to cash it in, and it was Pennsylvania lottery. I’m screwed.

From Tym:

Pompano beach was awesome. It was straight up hot when we were in south Florida and we played a skate park / community center that was shockingly nice for a place that hosts punk shows. Great vibes and a cool show, most of us ended up having some family in the area so we got to hang out and eat brunch the following morning. That night was our Orlando show at a bar with mostly hobos for clientele. Despite the shady locale, this was one of the best shows of tour, tons of young punks intermingling with old drunk homeless dudes.

Orlando was our only day off on the tour; I spent most of it with josh spickler watching how i met your mother and eating sandwiches and then meeting up with our friends for the superbowl. I’m pretty sure Pat and Jon spent the day at the only bar in town that had a higher hobo ratio than the bar we played the previous night, but there was free barbecue. Everyone pretty much went their separate ways that day and recharged for the upcoming cold and shitty drives. It always helps to have some time to not hang out with the same five dudes you’ve been crammed in a van with all month. Next day was in Tallahassee at a cool diy spot, this day was mostly uneventful, but we got to hang with jon’s brother and eat at another mall food court at least. Also fell asleep to Jurassic park for the second time this tour, I think Jon stayed up and watched all three.

From Gary:

We left Florida and warm weather behind in anticipation of our gig in Atlanta as well as an acoustic session that we were to record for Nervous Energies with Ryan Russell. A few hours into the drive we heard a weird noise and all of the sudden the van started going crazy and overheating. We were luckily coming up to an exit as this happened so we were able to coast off the interstate and pulled the van into a service station right off the ramp. We found ourselves stranded in Unadilla, GA with no hopes of getting the van fixed until the next morning. There were two motels in Unadilla, both of them could have easily been the setting for any horror movie… We settled for the less scary motel and waited out the night until the repair shop opened in the morning.  One wonderful thing did happen when we while we were stranded, the most amazing BBQ at Country Boy’s Cookin’ which happened to be right across the street from us. Good southern BBQ is always a treat for us since we come from the land of bagels and pizza.

We got the van fixed the next morning and made our way to Birmingham, AL to play a house show at a house dubbed ‘godz butt’ We had been talking about ‘godz butt’ the entire tour and all of us were excited to see what it was like in there. So it turned out that ‘godz butt’ is an enormous house thats surprisingly nice for a punk house and they really know how to throw a show. We all had a great time and it was fun to catch up with old friends.

Next Stop was Corbin, KY. The birthplace of ‘Colonel Sanders’ and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Some snow kept a lot of the kids at home this night but we had a great time hanging with everyone that made the trip out to see us.

We made our way to Louisville right after the Corbin show and have been posted up here ever since. We spent the better part of that day trying to find a trailer since the van has become too cramped to bear any longer. Trailer mission was a fail, but we did get a decent consolation prize in the form of food. We headed over to WW. Cousins burgers based on the recommendation from my friend Yelp and found ourselves falling in love with this place. Amazing burgers, topping’s bar and desserts. Definitely worth the trip over there if you are in the area. We even ran into one of the guys from one of the trailer related business that we were at earlier in the day from way across town, that’s how you know its good…. The show in Louisville was really awesome, great local bands, new/old friends, great vibes. Afterwards we went out with some friends to Cahoots for some drinks which resulted in the obligatory after bar Jimmy Johns sandwiches.

From Tym:

There is a high of 66 in Charleston, sc today. Seems like our cancelled Brooklyn show was weeks ago. Our show today was in an actual museum, which made things pretty strange; still had a good show though. It’s a lot less grating to be on tour in milder climates.. we’ve definitely been feeling lighter on our feet without the snow and cold beating down on us every day.

So to backtrack, our brooklyn show was cancelled on account of a big snowstorm. The next day was our long island record release show.. it was awesome. Tons of people, great bands and old friends. We scrambled to put together tour/test pressing versions of Last Days Of Rome before our set, our friends ended up helping us assemble a bunch of them.. we were stoked to have records in the nick of time for the show. We left early the next morning from Brooklyn and hung out at WKDU to talk and spin some records on the air before the show that day. The Philadelphia release show @ the fire was also surprisingly great. Our friend josh’s band bearings played and they were awesome, everyone should definitely check our the new stuff that band has coming out. This was also our last day of tour with Evan (Into It. Over It.), which was a bummer. We’ll definitely spend more time on the road with that dude in the near future so him and I can nerd out about ebullition style screamo. It goes without saying but making good friends so quickly on tour is the best.

Baltimore was definitely a weird show for us. Baltimore is kind of a weird town. We played a huge fest with Silverstein and We Came As Romans with 2000 young kids there. The food was good, though. Richmond was the exact opposite, DIY punk basement show with our friend’s bands, definitely a good time. Stayed with our buddy senor queso @ the cheese manor and played goldeneye most of the day. It’s great to have a nice house to stay at for two nights in a row to get recharged on a tour, even if the night ends with various band members tazing each other / themselves with a stun gun. Left the next morning for North Carolina, chilled at lunchbox records and played a fun set with some thrash / metaly bands. Lunchbox records is always fun, if you’re ever near Charlotte, NC it’s a great place to check out. Always end up spending a hundred bucks when I’m there between vegan jerky and lps.

Which brings us back to SC. Stayed with some rad college bros and now headed to Florida. It’s warm there.

From Gary Cioni:

So I know the last update had a theme of ‘coldness’ to it, and I really don’t want to beat a dead horse… but seriously, what is up with clubs not turning the heat on. The last two nights we played in Providence and Albany and both clubs were probably below freezing temperatures inside. The shows themselves were great and we had a blast playing, but seriously, club owners, please don’t make us wear our winter jackets on stage. Last night was our last day on the road with Transit, bummed that we wont be seeing those guys play every night anymore. I wonder where they are going to get gear to use now?

Now to tell you about the Mohegan Sun casino’s buffet, what a glorious thing it is… Mikes parents treated us and IIOI to a lovely lunch there yesterday, I can safely say it may be the nicest meal I will eat in 2011. I love my pb&j and ramen but if I could eat like that every day I would be a very happy man. Speaking of ramen noodles, Pat has constructed his own ramen recipe which I feel should be shared with the world. I like to call it ‘the poor man’s pad thai’ but you can call it whatever you want. It’s ramen noodles, soy sauce, hot sauce, and peanut sauce (the kind you get in the Asian section of your grocery store) It costs less than 1$ to make per serving and is DELICIOUS. Highly recommended for all our fellow broke road warriors out there.

We drove back to NYC last night after the Albany and it currently looks like we might be getting snowed in, here’s to hoping that tonight’s show does not get cancelled….

From Gary Cioni:

Our feet are cold. If I had do describe the tour so far in one sentence that’s the one I would choose. Given more time to explain I would also mention that we have eaten alot of sandwiches, done some partying, made some new friends, got to hang with some old friends, and played some good shows.

So far we have played in Scranton, New Britain, Buffalo, and Syracuse. They all had one thing in common, snow everywhere and freezing temperatures. The snow is all around us as we drive to Providence right now. For some reason our van gets really warm everywhere but the floor, and my feet are so cold that they are numb right now. I really should not complain though being that Transit’s van does not have any heat at all. Aside from the weather, the shows so far have been fun and it has been a pleasure being out with Into It. Over It. and Transit.

Jon woke up on Saturday morning to an Iguana walking across his chest.

We did some partying in Buffalo for Mikes Birthday with IIOI and some friends. Which was at club diablo. Which is a club named Club Diablo, with a 20 foot satan that alternates between goth rock and morbid angel between bands. All the bands on this tour obviously fit in really well.. but seriously it was an awesome show. Just not as awesome as “whiskey town,” (I don’t remember what their name actually was so we will just go with whiskey town) the sassy dad rock band that played the late show at Diablo. Later in the night we went to a bar named Pinkies or Pinkys, I don’t know how they spelled it.. but Evan and Jon got hustled in pool and they made a really delicious looking sandwich.

Bummed that we only have two nights left with Transit. Really good vibes on this tour, really shitty pizza.
