“(IF YOU’RE WONDERING IF I WANT YOU TO) I WANT YOU TO”
PREMIERES TODAY ON BABELGUM

TWO BACK-TO-BACK PERFORMANCES ON THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN, OCTOBER 29TH AND 30TH

BAND ANNOUNCES FIRST TOUR DATES IN SUPPORT OF RADITUDE

Weezer, 2008 Grammy Award Winners for best music video, will premiere their video for “(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To,” the first single off of their latest release Raditude, on October 20th. The video will be available exclusively on Babelgum for one week. It features actress Odette Yustman (“Cloverfield”) as the gorgeous femme fatale who visits the sleepy town of Weezerville and throws the locals- played by duplicate versions of the band members- into chaos.

In addition to the video, fans will also be able to watch behind-the-scenes footage and an interview with acclaimed director Marc Webb, whose credits include the beloved breakout film “500 Days Of Summer” and music videos for My Chemical Romance, Regina Spektor and Green Day. This isn’t Webb’s first experience working with Weezer; he directed the band’s video for “Perfect Situation” which featured actress Elisha Cuthbert.

“(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To” has already skyrocketed to the number two spot on Alternative Radio and is climbing up the Active and AAA charts. A deluxe version of Raditude, featuring a variety of additional content including remixes and videos, is currently available at the iTunes Store in weekly installments.

In support of Raditude, Weezer announces a string of tour dates, kicking off October 24th at the Palladium in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles and New York City shows have already sold out. Tickets for the remaining dates go on sale next week. On October 29th and 30th, Weezer will appear for back-to-back performances on The Late Show With David Letterman. The Get Up Kids | Weezer

For the 10th anniversary reissue of their landmark album, ‘Something to Write Home About,’ the Get Up Kids compiled years of archival footage for a bonus DVD. Among the many highlights is a scene where the Kansas City punks took part in the time-honored rock tradition of smashing their equipment to bits. “That was the last date of the 2001 tour we did opening for Weezer,” frontman Matt Pryor tells Spinner. “We just smashed all of our s—-. It seemed like a fun thing to do at the time.”

The decimation of the instruments wasn’t as wanton as it might seem. “Oh, it was totally planned, like ‘Top that, bitch!’” says Pryor. “It was very Jerry Lee Lewis of us.” Surprisingly, the stunt got no reaction from Rivers Cuomo and his bandmates. In fact, Weezer never reacted to anything the Get Up Kids did. “They never said anything to us for that entire tour,” Pryor recalls. “They’re the only band I’ve toured with for a month that I’ve never spoken to. They’re jackasses.”

Lil Wayne + Weezer

By now, you are probably aware that on Weezer’s upcoming Raditude album(a.k.a. “the one with the dog on the cover”), frontman Rivers Cuomo has decided to shake things up, working with the All-American Rejects’ Tyson Ritter and Nick Wheeler, Butch Walker and super-producer Dr. Luke.

But the shaking didn’t stop there. Perhaps taking a cue from Girl Talk or millions of amateur mash-up auteurs out there, Cuomo has recruited none other than Lil Wayne to contribute a verse to a song on the album.

“Weezer is always trying something new,” Cuomo told MTV News. “Last year, we put out The Red Album. We loved that album, but this is 2009. It’s time to do something totally different. So I reached out to some friends of mine in different genres: Jermaine Dupri, for example, king of R&B, I wrote a song with him called ‘Can’t Stop Partying.’ It was a real challenge for me, taking his ideas, which are very slick, R&B party [ideas], and giving it some kind of edge, some darkness, making it work with rock, making it work with Weezer.

“Not only that, but we got Lil Wayne to come in and do a rap on it,” he continued. “Any other rapper would’ve just done, ‘Yay, we’re partying! Let’s drink and have fun,’ but he gave it the edge I was looking for. You can hear in his voice, it sounds so dark, like he was gonna get shot or something when he walks out of the studio. So I was real happy that everyone involved got what we were going for.”

While a Weezer/Weezy collabo does seem a bit odd, it’s keeping in theme withRaditude’s party-hearty ethos. And it’s not like Wayne is new to the rock game, either. Last year, he appeared on Fall Out Boy’s Folie à Deux, and then there’s hismuch-delayed “rock” album, Rebirth, which is set to be released in December.
