The Fall Out Boy frontman went on a rambling, rather non-cohesive rant about our culture’s tendency to hate anything that gains popularity or success. It may not be a well put-together blog, but it’s worth a read.
Travis Clark was jumped this weekend and was seriously banged up, needing 14 staples in his head. Clark has been discharged and will be resting his injury off.
We’re getting deep into the lineup now with only a few more weeks of announcements coming. What do you think of the lineup at this point?
There will be well-over 200 releases coming out on RSD13 this year, and everyone will have something to buy.
Some fans seem to think the band is recording an acoustic version of Ocean Avenue, time will tell.
Three tequila, floor.
Mixtapes, Aficionado, Citizen are three of PropertyOfZack’s favorite bands, so we are certainly more than stoked to see them on tour together. And what could be better than putting all three bands together for a new PropertyOfZack Playlist feature? We’re not sure either. Check out the dates for the tour here and the Playlists below while listening to the songs on Spotify and reading everyone’s thoughts!
If I am driving this is a playlist that I would make and enjoy. It’s god different moods, genres, feelings, it’s like a total journey man. You should make this exact playlist and enjoy it, otherwise you are a poser. - Ryan Rockwell
Built to Spill - Saturday
Saw this band not too long ago, excellent show. Perfect anytime music.
David Bazan – People *Song is not on Spotify
All this dudes solo stuff rules. I might’ve put a different song from this record on our last playlist….I can’t remember. But I just can’t stop listening to this record.
Television - Marquee Moon
The song just keeps getting better and better; it tricks you into thinking the big climax is coming up but then just keeps rolling. When it finally does break, it becomes impossibly pretty with all these chirpy, bird-like guitars.
Desaparecidos - Greater Omaha
Our entire country is flooded with various franchises and other urban developed bullshit. Before I went on tour and really got to see the country I thought that things like that would be a bit more scarce, especially in the heartland of America. The only thing that is different is that there’s more Taco John’s than Taco Bell. Connor Oberst likes to play around with satirical lyrics in this band, and this particular song is the pinnacle of that style.
Sisqo - Thong Song
Because she got dumps like a truck, truck, truck.
Danger Mouse & Jack White - The Rose with the Broken Neck
This is a beautiful track off the Danger Mouse/Daniele Luppi album Rome. It’s super creepy and dreamlike musically and lyrically. The words are written vaguely enough for the listener to make up their own warped tale. I’m hopelessly addicted to this album and should probably listen to something else for fear of my health and sanity.
Dinosaur Jr - Watch the Corners
New Dinosaur Jr. Consistently awesome band.
Converge - My Great Devastator *Song is not on Spotify
Best Converge song. So insanely heavy. We’re gonna put this song on, freak out, and mosh until our van swerves off the road.
Max Roach - Garvey’s Ghost
Max Roach is the only person that can put a latin feel into jazz
that doesn’t sound like mind numbing elevator music. With a musical
drum solo based over a latin feel cowbell groove and an eerie
vocal hook that soon follows you just say shit yeah.
Mountain Goats - Woke Up New
Super depressing song. - Nicholas Warchol
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - Heart In Your Heartbreak
Lately, I’ve been becoming more attentive to song structure and that is probably what stands out the most to me in this song. Besides, it’s ridiculously catchy.
Zoo Kid - Out Getting Ribs *Song is not on Spotify
I don’t know what it is about this song, but it’s just one of those songs you listen to once and get immediately hooked. Also, he’s proof that age is pretty unrelated to making impressive music.
Give - I Am Love *Song is not on Spotify
Not only is this song a jam, but this band is aesthetically great. Everything from the artwork to the lyrics to the structure adds up to make for a really interesting outcome. Give is a band to be watching.
Whirr - Junebouvier
This band is great. I really liked the record, Distressor that they put out but Pipe Dreams tops it. This song in particular really stands out to me. They are putting out a split with Anne on Run For Cover so make sure to check that out.
Face Reality - No Justice *Song is not on Spotify
Face Reality is one of my favorite bands from Michigan. Their new record (and Back to Back debut) is their strongest work to date. I feel like it’d be hard to listen to this and not enjoy it. Check it out.
Crime In Stereo - I Cannot Answer You Tonight
Because I miss this band.
Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer - Plays Pretty For Baby *Song is not on Spotify
I use to listen to it very frequently when I was in junior high, it’s still my favorite song to date. Very nostalgic.
