Bayside - Oliver’s Army
Whether they’re pumping out full-lengths full of original material, or EPs strictly composed of cover songs, this band consistently kills it. Bomb The Music Industry!- Shit That You Hate
One of the worst moments in this year was when Bomb The Music Industry! announced that they would be going on hiatus. After putting out one of the best, if not the best record in 2011, I was really hoping for a lot more from the band. Vacation is a perfect record with every song being just as good as the other. I saw their final(?) show in Cleveland last night and this was the track that hit me the hardest. The Wonder Years - Living Room Song
The world didn’t end. Look Mexico - You Stay. I Go. No Following.
Look Mexico is a highly underrated band, in my opinion. Their smooth indie rock leaves very little to be desired. Add a guest spot by the man, the myth, the legend Frank Turner on “You Stay. I Go. Huey Lewis & The News - The Power Of Love
I had already spent a lot of time the past few days listening to Huey Lewis (because of reasons!), so when friend-of-POZ / Motion City Soundtrack stickman Tony Thaxton selected the San Francisco white-boy-soul-rockers for his contribution to BandsOnBands, I knew that I had to make this my pick for the week. Between the fist-pumper synth hook, the day-glo production sheen, and Lewis’ inimitable power croon, it might be the most mid-80s song ever recorded. mewithoutYou - All Circles
I’m not a large mewithoutYou fan, but I certainly enjoy their music. Ten Stories very much took me surprise this year. It’s my favorite album by the band, and I think “All Circles” is a great song for anyone who has not listened to the band, or has not previously enjoyed the band, to check out.
