It seems like we’ve been working on this forever, but boy was it worth the wait. PropertyOfZack is incredibly excited to welcome in Dan Coddaire of Set Your Goals for our new Road Noms feature. Road Noms was a blog that Dan ran to update fans on his wild food adventures as he traveled throughout the world with Set Your Goals. Dan is moving Road Noms to PropertyOfZack now, and we are kicking it all off with Dan’s..should we say, interesting trip to Asia. Over the next week we’ll bringing you entries from Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan. For now check out Dan’s Noms journey in Thailand and try not to get too grossed out by his love for duck bills!
Hey there! Since you’re reading this right now you’re one of two kinds of people: you’ve read my blog before and you’re checking me out for the first time on Propertyofzack.com, in which case I say thank you for visiting the new home of Road Noms!

You’ve never read my blog before and just stumbled across this entry on POZ.com. If that’s the case all I have to say is you have no idea what you’re about to get into. I don’t fuck around when it comes to trying out new food, friend. Read on to see the proof.
So anyways, it’s been a while since I’ve Road Nom’ed. I haven’t been on tour with Set Your Goals too much lately because my dad is still in the hospital but I did recently join up with my band for a two week run in Southeast Asia and Japan. I knew I would be able to get down on some crazy food out there and I’m glad to say that’s exactly what I did.
Our first stop was Bangkok, Thailand. After a 20 hour trip to get there, I was starving so our friend Aun showed me to a row of street carts selling a variety of simple, homemade foods like stews and soups.

I was in the mood for a noodle soup and this lady was serving it up fresh.

I had this tasty beef noodle soup. It was nice and hearty; exactly what I wanted. I ended up dropping in a lot of chili powder to spice it up and it was perfect. The humidity and spiciness of the soup made me sweat off a few pounds easily.
The next day we went a couple hours of outside of Bangkok to ride elephants and check out the market on the water. Afterwards we stopped at a little roadside restaurant and had a good lunch.
We started off with some fried rice and some egg pancake. Limes and cucumber for garnish.

Along with a some coconut curry soup and a fish dish that got snatched up before I could get a picture we had a couple really good shrimp dishes. The top one had a nice thick garlic sauce and some good greens. The other was a really spicy one and it was perfect. Probably should have had more.
Alright so I’ll admit things aren’t too crazy yet. My first couple of meals were tame, I know. But after our show things started to get a bit nuts.
