With The Punches are out on the PropertyOfZack Tour with Forever Came Calling and State Champs and they’re off to a great start. The band will be doing a Road Blog for the site every week or so to keep fans updated on the tour. Check out the first Road Blog below and come back each week for more!
From Mike Corvasce:
It’s been nine days since we’ve started the PropertyOfZack tour with our friends in Forever Came Calling and State Champs. We had a fantastic send-off at The Loft in Poughkeepsie celebrating the release of our first full-length “Seams and Stitches,” and did some more regional shows which were all fantastic. We made our first trip over the border to Canada to play Toronto, which was a raging success. Everyone there was incredibly kind and welcoming and the show went super well, we played with a band called Bathurst who were rad (Dustin got one of their shirts with four black wieners in the pattern of the Black Flag bard on it). We’ve spent the past few days in Ohio, playing Toledo and in Cleveland we picked up our friend Masa from Kick Rock Records in Japan at the airport and had the opportunity to visit the Alternative Press headquarters, which was out of control. We hung out there for awhile and met the staff, we’ve all been reading Alternative Press for years so it was cool to put faces of the names we’ve seen in print a thousand times.
We played the Grog Shop in Cleveland, a really cool venue in the Cleveland Heights section of the city, and as we were loading our gear into the venue, one of the employees at the Chipotle next-door came out and gave us a coupon for 5 free burritos, so we stuffed our faces with delicious mexican food after the show. Vinny also picked up a skateboard, rode it for three seconds, and got yelled at by a cop.

Hot Water Music - Drag My Body
Musically this song is incredible. The rhythm section is locked in the pocket the whole song. Ragan’s voice is a bottle of Jameson, I like Jameson. This record is incredible. I remember seeing HWM at a venue called Fat Cat’s in Houston with Dustin on our birthday just a few days after moving to Texas, great night. - Jesse
Slick Shoes - Spleen Puncher
Stoked this band is apparently putting out a new record. This album, Biggest and The Best, is all over the place and I love it. Super catchy sugary pop punk songs like “Friday Night” and then… this song comes on. PIT. - Jesse
Aficionado - The Things You Like
I slept on this band for so long, I heard their name around, but it wasn’t until we played a show with them in Poughkeepsie that I really “got it”. I’ve been listening to them pretty solid, and to be honest all their songs are fucking incredible, they are amazing musicians. they vocals are awesome, the lyrics are great. I can’t say enough good things about them. – Dustin
Far From Proper - Killadelphia
I have been watching this band grow and change for a few years and I am so proud of the way they have progressed. This song immediately reminded me of Descendents, I think it’s the intro riff that does it for me. They absolutely kill it, and watching them onstage is always fun, there’s no bullshit macho toughguy shit, they get up, plug in and have fun, that’s all I ever want to see at shows. So stoked to see what this year holds for these guys. – Dustin
The Bouncing Souls - Fast Times
My favorite band just put out a new record. I love everything they ever put out, my favorite being How I Spent My Summer Vacation. It’s like they wrote 23 songs for HISMSV back in 2001 and just waited 11 years to release these 10. Amazing punk rock. - Shane
Kimbra - Settle Down
She’s amazingly talented, stunningly beautiful, soulful, and a little eccentric, a combination that, in my eyes, makes a great record. Almost has a Regina Spektor feel to it. (P.S. Jesse really doesn’t like Kimbra) - Shane
The Ghost Inside - Engine 45
This song is so awesome!!! I love everything this band puts out. It’s a new one off their new record “Get What You Give” i am a huge fan of hardcore music and this band just does it for me. Melodic guitar riffs and bone crushing vocals and no cheesy breakdowns. This band is legit and is one of my favorite upcoming hardcore bands of 2012. - Vinny
Mayday Parade – Stay
This song is a little on the soft side but is one of my favorite songs and it’s something I can relate too. I was going through some problems with a girl and this song just had everything that was going on with me ad her. Kind of weird but everything is great now and this song just puts a smile on my face every time i hear it. I suggest you pick up Maydays self-titled album because it is amazing. Great dudes and talented musicians as well. - Vinny
Death by Stereo - What The Fuck Is Going On Around Here?
The opening track from Black Sheep Of The American Dream released earlier this year. This track, along with the entire record, hits hard as hell and is absolutely relentless. Their last few records saw a real deviation from the more punk fueled sound manifested in records like “day of the death.” This record knocked my ass to the floor, and if you were a fan of death by stereo back in 2000-2003, you will thoroughly enjoy it. - Mike
River City Extension - If You Need My Back In Brooklyn
I’ve been watching this band play and grow for years now, and their sophomore release Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Your Anger is a perfect second record from this genre transcending powerhouse of a band. If you’re a fan of folk/rock/indie music, please pick up this record because you will not be disappointed - Mike

Anberlin - Time and Confusion
This song makes me think of high school and my friends. When life was even simpler than it is now. - Tyler
Jimmy Eat World - Crush
JEW can do no wrong. This one gets me stoked from the very first ring out.
Fall Out Boy - Of All the Gin Joints In All the World
u only hold me up liek disss - Tyler

After we wrote and demoed Harvard and I Told You Already, it was time to sit down and start really getting into the writing for the full length and it started with this song and the descending guitar riff Mike wrote for the intro. We started working with it and actually the song came together fairly quickly. We all decided right away that this was going to be the first track on the record. Lyrically I love this song because it’s about the point when Jesse and I first really started to become close friends, so I know what he is referencing when he talks about that apartment because it was my apartment too. I like the tone this song sets for the record. - Dustin
My favorite song on the record. Since the moment Vin and I figured out the intro for the song, there has just been something about the music for this song that kills me. I really love what everyone plays and how it all blends and builds off everything else, particularly Shane and Mike’s parts stand out for me on this song. Mike has a lot of real awesome and subtle runs in this song and I think that it’s how the two of them play that make the song hit so hard for me. Lyrically it deals with shitty people in your life and how no matter how much you try, sometimes people are unwilling to look at things from any perspective but theirs, and in that situation you can’t always save the relationship. There are some people in this world you are just better off without. – Dustin
Harvard on the Hudson
Harvard hits home with me because I never went to college. All my friends left for school and I almost felt left out or dumb. This song was written to say that everyone chooses their own path. For me, it meant that even if I didn’t go to college, it doesn’t mean I can’t be successful in what I do. At the time it wasn’t so easy to wrap my mind around. Now, I have seen so many places and done so many things that I could never have imagined doing. I’m still striving to be the best at what I do, and that is playing music. Bottom line is, you don’t need college if it’s not the right thing for you. Do what you love and what makes you happy because that is what life ultimately comes down to. - Shane
This was actually based on something that I personally went through on tour. Jesse saw everything progress as it happened and asked if he could write a song about it. Long story short, I really liked this girl and everything seemed to be going great. We left for tour and, so she wouldn’t forget about me, I sent her a postcard from a ton of places that we were at while we were gone. Again, it seemed to be going great and then a few days before the end of tour she told me that she didn’t want anything more than for us to be just friends. I get home to find out that she had been hooking up with someone else while we were gone. It just really sucked. You live… you learn……… and you write a song about it. - Shane
